I was quoted option 1 ($970) or option 2 ($1350) to replace 2 springs with a 15K cycle rating. This is very expensive compared to other garage repair shops.
- Sean Du
Hi Mr. Du, Thanks for sharing your customer experience. I'm sorry to hear you felt that quotes were high, but happy to hear you did not feel pressure to move forward. We provide no-pressure options. They are not required and or mandatory to do. We encourage any customer to call around if they feel inclined to do so. But to your point, garage door repair is not cheap. We are not the most expensive company out there, we are not the cheapest (we do not want to be), but we do try to be very professional and stand behind our work. If you like to give us a call to discuss further, please do. Ask for Freddy. 510-785-9195. We'd love to see if we can improve on your experience and or clarify. Thank you for choosing Precision Garage Door Freddy Cespedes General Manager Precision Garage Door

One of the springs broke and it was urgent to get it fixed to be able to use the garage and get the cars out. We called and within an hour Tony showed up. The service was great and he completed the work in a good manner, explaining all the technical details. However, we were shocked at the cost of the parts, we checked with family and friends who had similar work done and they were also shocked. I understand parts will be marked up, but for example when a part like Torsion Cable 7' high is charged at $300 when it only retails for in the range of 10 to 25 dollars, it does not feel right. Even though the service was great and I’m sure the quality of work was also good, next time I would look around for other quotes just due to the final cost I had to pay, feels way too high.

Very expensive and feel like I was taken advantage of due to my circumstances of having been locked out of my house. The customer service was good but the rate was a highway robbery!

I am a licensed S.E. S1862 and would like to propose a bolt though the wall as opposed to current failed lag attachment of spring. Garage never used for vehicles. Will buy new garage door when sell in 1 yr. A more experienced person could probably do this. Happy to sign a hold harmless document. If Precision not interested could you recommend someone who might be. Bob at bobpotterec0@Gmail.com (510)235-3121

I wasn't satisfied with the service, because the service person said he cannot look into the opener as it does not have battery backup. I insisted him to at least open and see and let me know what the issue was let alone fixing it. If I was asking to install a new opener and it didn't have battery backup that makes sense to not work on it, but to repair the existing one I was told it couldn't be done. Mine was detached garage, so it could have been given consideration without the battery backup model. The service visit was of no use and I paid $70 compared to the $49.95 advertised in the newspaper. When I called back to set an appointment to install a new opener that I purchased, I was told that 3rd party openers will not be installed and only the openers sold by precision garage door service will be installed. I didn't have a good experience. I selected your service based on a neighbor referral. They bought an opener and got it installed but for me that type of service was refused. Please provide the service worth the service charge.

The technician seemed a little perturbed when he saw what was wrong with our garage door. And immediately stated the cost would be $425.00. It took him approx 10 minutes to fix the issue. When I questioned him about the amount charged and the length of time it took him to complete the job he said I can take off $50. I questioned again if this is what it costs no matter how long it takes, and he stated I’m just an employee I will not ever use this company again and would not recommend anyone to use this company. They maybe able to fix garage doors but at the expense of someone who has no choice but to pay what they say.

The work was done well, however based on quick internet search my impression is that the rates they charge are way above the market rates for this kind of work.

The Tech was not wearing a mask when he came to my home. I did not receive a check list of what was inspected for my records. i felt the service charge was to high for the service given. i felt the company should have ordered the part needed for me to in stall, so it would be the correct part. That would have been a better service best practice.

Service was fast and repair tech on sight in an hour and completed work in less than an hour. However, $1,100 for under an hours work and for what I thought was just a broken spring seems a bit steep. Not sure if I really needed all new wheels, cables or whatever else was changed. Kinda feels like I was taken for a ride.

Had Precision change my springs. Technician was on time and did a good job but I called another company later and they said they would have done the job for $25 less.

I think the service was overpriced... $300 for a 30 minute repair is high, bay area or no. No explanation on what was broken and needed repairing or replacing. The tech essentially gave a price list... $300 to repair the opener, $600 to replace it or $1000 to repair/replace worn/broken parts including those on the door. When I told him I could replace the door for $1100 he said that would cost $2000. Take your pick. So, my choice was either throw away $50 or pay at least another $250 for the repair. I needed the door working so chose the repair. BTW Paulino, make sure everything works after the job is done. Nothing worse coming home to find out the opener light bulb doesn't work. That cost you a star.
- Rick Wilkerson
Rick, We apologize for your having a bad experience. Have spoken to Paulino and you and hope this makes your end result a better one. Thank you for your business.

The tech was courteous; however, the price to make a few adjustments for a job that he said would take 25 mins was way overpriced at $250. I ended up paying $49.99 just for a 5 min inspection.
- Arnold Cuevas
Arnold, Thank you for your feedback. I hope you found our conversation useful. As I hope you understand there are many costs we incur running a business in California- trucks, inventory, advertising, people answering phones, insurance, workers comp, taxes.... before our technician even gets to do any work. Even so since it sounds like our technician did not do a good enough job explaining what needed to be done and why, I am happy to refund you the $49.95 service fee. I truly hope you found someone to repair your door correctly and in a timely manner. Pat

We called Precision because we received excellent repair service before. Unfortunately, the service this time was very poor. We were especially disappointed with the technician's behavior. We found him to be disrespectful for several reasons: 1) The tech continued a personal phone call when he came into our garage and did not greet us in a professional manner. 3) During repair, we heard several parts being dropped on garage floor! 4) Greasy finger prints were visible in a couple of places on our white garage door. The tech was there for about 15-20 minutes from start to finish and charged around $1100. The garage door was repaired but his work was sloppy and we were overcharged. We believe the charge was not commensurate with the work that was done.
