Service Tech, Tried to HARD SALE ME on $2,300.00 repairs. Replace current spring assembly with a center spring assembly, rollers and lift cables! I had one broken spring, and one broken cable! I’m sure replacing two springs and two lift cables will do the trick. Have their competitors scheduled for Monday. They need to change their slogan to: “A Name You CAN’T TRUST.” I know they’re really duping a lot of customers out there! I never write reviews, however I just needed to put this out there…

Dishonest and rip off. I found this from diamond certified and saw the website claim the company ensure for the door operating as long as I own the property. So I called and ask for spring replacement which I'm told for only $250. However technician came out and quote me on several options ranging from $900+ (1 year warranty) to $1800+ (3 years warranty). He told me to replace other parts which he think should be replaced in order for the spring to operate properly. After talking to several other companies the quotes are from $500 to $900. They told me other parts are still fine and one even offer me lifetime warranty for a premium quality of spring brand.

Thank you for the call and follow up Freddy. I understand your company provides an above market premium quality of service and part, agreeing on the pricing offered now.

I asked him to bring a 40 inch spring to replace mine in my house. He didn’t do that and then wanted to sell me a whole bunch other stuff.

I chose Precision door because they responded right away, however i am disappointed with their work. After spending $1000 to get the garage door fixed 2 weeks ago, it started making squealing noise within a week of repair. Now i have to spend additional $250 to get the noise fixed. They are pretty expensive(charging 3 or 4 time more than regular price).

HORRIBLE Customer service!!! They did not show up the committed time and did not notify me. They were scheduled to come between 12-4 pm and they did not show up until 530 pm. It's a day before Thanksgiving and ruined my plans because they're not reliable and respectable company. I do not recommend this company!

Beware: I gave my credit card over the phone to the technician to pay for the service. A day after I got a fraud alert from my credit card company after 7 charges were made to my account unauthorized. I don't usually give my credit card over the phone but the situation was urgent and I needed to get replaced same day so I violate my rule. Credit card company will remove the charges however just want to give heads up to the consumers.

Very disappointed. The technician came out to do a door tuneup and did a 2 minute "25 point inspection" and quoted $1600 repair bill. I opted out of doing this "repair" only to have the door not work because the technician forgot to reconnect the door to the motor. If you can't reconnect the door after a simple inspection how can I trust the quality of your work?

Wasn’t impressed with Precision Garage service: upswell you unnecessary fees. Only needed one spring - they said I should have 2 (one on right, one on left) - went with one; he said I need 3 brackets to hold/pull up door - one bracket on each side lasted 10+ years n should last another 10+ years. Next time I will not go with big company - will use smaller company. On top of that they charge a $60 service come out fee - ridiculous. Go with smaller company to get your garage door fixed.

123.00 for less than 5 minutes—he pushed the reset button on the garage door opener.

San Ramon, CA
The technician came by and was rude from the beginning and basically said I need to replace everything except the door and the opener at a cost of 1300 and all I need is the springs replaced. When I called they said fixing each spring would just cost 269 or so but after the person came to fix, the cost was much different. When I asked to speak with a manager, he asked me to call the office and he left. Very poor service.

Hello Sung, I'm sorry to hear about your customer experience. We like to have a happy customer so I would love to chat with you and see if we can make this right. We always provide 3 quotes, at different price ranges as options, and we leave the option open to check with other companies if you're not 100% comfortable with the cost. We are not the cheapest company out there, or the most expensive, but we do try and be very professional and stand behind out work. Please feel free to give me a call when you have a chance. Thanks! Another attempt at price gouging. $1000-$2000 estimate for a broken spring, depending on how far we wanted to take the repair. Had another company come by and is fixing it for $395 total final price. Wish I would have read the other reviews about my Tech before he got here. I would have cancelled. Apparently others have had the same experience. They must work on commission.

Well, the call center experience when I booked the repair appointment was pleasant and professional. The technician (I'll keep his name out of it for now) called and showed up as promised. Good job, that's better than most services companies I've experienced. Then it fell apart. When the tech pulled up I greeted him with a warm "goodmorning!". He sort of stared and said "what's the problem". I quickly surmised his dour disposition was going to make this a harder than it needs to be experience, I told him the problem was the door would infrequently stop descending and return to the up position and that the light would blink as if the door had hit something or the photo eyes were blocked. I then told him I checked the photo eyes for blockage and also lubricated the rails, hinges and rollers but would still get the infrequent problem. With respect to the tech, he sort of grumbled and then spent a least 3 minutes examining the door. My garage door is rather large at 22.5" wide. It has 4 banks of roller springs and a good amount of hinges and rollers so I expected any repair might be higher than a normal residential door, but I was ready for that but what he told me following the lengthy examination was a bit surprising. The tech systematically pointed out that every spring had to be replaced and all the roller too; that they were past their useful life (I bought the house about 3 years ago and the garage door system looked almost new although I don't recall what the disclosure statement from the previous owners said. Perhaps I can look that up later). He then told me the springs are a special order item with a minimum 8 week order time and, get this, your company would have to remove them and I would be without a garage for at least 10 weeks. Ouch! I asked the tech "how much are we looking at $". He said he would prepare a bid right now, took out his tablet and within a couple minutes told me "$6,221.66" and would email the estimate too me (which he did, your technology is good). He also mentioned that the service charge for his trip was $49.95. So after a whole 10-15 or so he was off and I was left to consider the estimate and accompanying 10 week disruption. After a couple of hours and a little internet research I came to the conclusion that I could buy a new door for that much and have it installed in a day! I then sought another opinion. I called the next "leading" overhead door company for an appointment next day (my garage door continued to operated as normal during that time). As is too often the case in residential service, the tech was a no call no show after having a very pleasant call center experience booking the appointment (that company had good IT too). I then looked for "a local guy" as they often take real ownership of there relationship with the customer (my opinion anyway). Brian showed up 5 minutes early, was clean cut, professional and just plain friendly. I explained the problem to him. He listened intently and looked over the door as we lowered and raised it. He quickly commented that the door and rail system looked "brand new" and that garage door opener was "the best of the market". He then looked me in the eye and smiled, saying "you have a loose photo eye. He proceeded to show me that the wing nut holding one of the eyes was loose and would would occasionally wiggle in and out of alignment as the door moved up and down. He showed me how to check alignment and check for power. Wow! I asked how much and he said his trip charge was $19.95. Now that's a world class experience and he has my business for life and I've already shared his contact information with several family members in the area. No saturation TV advertising or SEM for Brian (by the way shelter in place orders have long since expired and the CDC very early established that the valve type respirator your tech wears in the TV ad was the type that should not be worn to protect transmission of COVID...sorry just had to get that in) Perhaps your company might wish to rethink how you compensate your technicians. I suspect the tech who came to my house was more motivated by the commission than actually prescribing what was best for the customer and ultimately, the reputation of your company and future potential business. Please let me know if I should repost this on Yelp. Thanks and no service charge for my recommendation. PS: my garage door has worked beautifully since Brian was here.

Technician is on time which is great! I told the guy that all I want is to make a minimal repair like adjusting/aligning the dented right vertical rail which cause the rollers on the left to disangaged so that it will function how it used to be. I was really dissapointed when the guy give me the estimates and option, telling me so many parts need to be replace which will cost me $1,500-$1,800. I decided to decline their estimates in spite me of paying $49.95 for their visit because I knew this company also makes profit out of the parts, hoping they knew how to listen what their customer wants and be truthful enough. In the end I contacted another company with FREE estimate, this guy is so awesome he told me there is no parts need to be replaced. I told him you might need to replace the dented right vertical rail, he said no, what this awesome guy did is just make it straight again. He made my garage door aligned center, adjustments for the gaps and checked all moving parts works properly....now my garage door works flawless and even gave me a 2 years Off Track Warranty. The repars only cost me $300.00! Just being honest in my comments and ratings.

Called in and booked appointment to inspect and said promotion is 50% off of $49.95. Tech Phillip did not honor it and did not bother to check with the persons I called in. Poor service

Hi Mr. Nguyen, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. We always strive for TOP customer service and it sounds like we miss the mark on a few things here. I tried calling you back on 12/3 to chat a bit about your experience and also see if there was anything I could do to improve on that. Possibly help you out with the service fee? In any case, hope we get to chat. If we don't have a wonderful holiday. Thanks! Freddy Cespedes General Manager Precision Garage Door 510-785-9195

Martinez, CA
Kept on telling me the springs were to weak all I wanted was the maintenance of the doors they are 7 years old and nothing is wrong with the springs I told him, finally he told me that it would cost 2 hundred bucks for each door to be serviced, They could have told me that on the phone when I ask the person on the phone how much does it cost for maintance we have to come out bull crap, the technician new what it cost after I told him the springs have been good for the last 7 years. They get 40 bucks just for showing up service call. Make them give you a rough estimate over the phone, not a good showing of service from the tech. They got me.

Very bad service. The service person came and did little-to-no valid checking's in the existing system. He directly want to change a new one and asked me to pay around $1500. I wasted by paying $49 for no reason. Please don't call them if you have issue with garage door opener.

Hi I appreciate your call from Freddy (G.M.) I honestly didn't think company's cared anymore. I understand Freddy's feelings for his company. (A very good General Manager.) If or when I need another maintenance call or need a new motor, it will be to Precision Overhead Garage Door Service. Thank You. Edward Locatelli

Concord, CA
I simply needed a garage door spring replaced. Was told by the dispatcher that it would be ~$240 to replace. "Paul" came out and tried to upsell my wife on $900 worth of service. When I asked him to simply perform the service I asked for, he refused. He charged me ~$50 for the visit and left without doing anything. It is highly unlikely that I will ever call you for service again!
- Kevin Blatter

The tech came to my house is for the money only. He came didn’t do anything I was complaining my GARADGE door not closing it open but cannot closed, all he does is stood by the censor and let me push the bottom on the wall and he said nothing wrong with it, so I ask him so your not gonna do anything I alredy told him that is not closing and he said I need a new GARADGE so basically he just came there to collect the money for him to come to my house, and try sell me a new GARADGE which skyrocket prices. He was gonna charge me almost 1,700 for just a new motor that you can buy at Home Depot for 240. Insane I wish I got his name as soon as I see him I just knew he no good, I use precision GARADGE before I have a good guy fix the problem without hesitate problem solve. But one employee that is not doing a good job will pull the business down.

I would not recommend this company for the reason that they doubled the price when they worked on my garage door. I understand that I didn't have to agree with the quote that they presented. My plan was to get multiple quotes, but I was also desperate to get my garage door back in operation. After I got my invoice, I decided to research the prices on the parts listed on the invoice. For example, they charged me $699.00 for the Liftmaster 8550wlb opener which sold for $345.00 at Amazon. Not to mention the rest of the parts that they used which were also double priced.

I had called to have a technician sent out to my home to assist with servicing my garage door and resetting our current door openers. The technician shared that we needed a new motor and that our openers were too old to fix. In less than 5 minutes (arrival, inspection, and quote) we received a quote for a new door opener at $800. Needless to say, we paid the $50 fee for coming out. My husband was able to do some research online and found out how to reprogram our current door opener for free! Needless to say, I was not impressed with being quoted $800 and paying a $50 service fee for a job that could’ve been done in 5 minutes and required no new motor!

Union City, CA
Precision charged me $125 for $4 bearing at HomeDepot. Two bearings cost $250. It is understandable if I only replace a bearing. But, no! I am replacing 2 springs at the same time. The labor for replacing each bearing takes ~5 minutes. I will not use Precision again. Very bad charging practice.

Danville, CA
The repair consisted of replacing the J arm connecting the trolley to the door. Apparently, the technician did not check the operation of the door after completion of the repair, which I consider a serious breach of responsibility. When I operated the door after the technician left, I found the trolley hitting the motor. Now I am forced to operate the door manually.

Fairly unhappy! You say you offer a senior discount being 72 it was not offered. Precision had originally installed the unit, I was told the system was not powerful enough and I needed a different one, I passed on it. He said the sensor was bad and recommended replacement of wire with sensor. Retail cost of both parts is about 50 dollars, less on Amazon. It took 15 min. to install and the total charge was 380 dollars. I felt taken advantage of.

I never received a receipt for the 1st job done. I also need copy of Warranty and instruction to open the door when it's stuck. I needed to recharge my electric car but couldn't open the door. How do I open the door manually the next time it's stuck OR if we have a power outage. Just talked to the guy who fixed the door. He said labor charge is $89 and service call is $49.95. Shouldn't the service call fee be folded into the labor charge? Your fees are unreasonable and unfair! We are seniors on fixed income. Do not overcharge! Today's charge of $433.54 does not describe what was fixed.
